Priest
A hospital priest also works at the hospice, with special training in providing religious services in hospitals. The priest provides for the religious and spiritual needs of patients and their relatives along with other staff of the hospice.
The spiritual support provided by the hospice is based on the principle of religious freedom, respecting the religious views or outlook on life of each and every one of us. One is not required to be a member the Lutheran church to approach the hospice priest. If requested, the priest can contact the patient’s own congregation.
The priest meets and welcomes new patients, and he is available for personal discussions. The priest is bound by absolute confidentiality. The hospice priest supports people in the process of grieving and letting go, consoles and listens. There are weekly spiritual gatherings, prayer sessions, sing-alongs or communions at the hospice.
